Construction Sites and Public Health

Mayor Garcetti’s office recently updated the regulations that everyone must follow to combat the COVID-19 virus.  The Stay-At-Home Mandate has been extended to May 15.

Many people have expressed concern about behavior by workers at construction sites in our area that does not comply with current regulations.  If you wish to protect these workers and their families (and the success of public health directives), here is what you need to know.

Workers must:

  • Maintain 6-foot separation between one another

  • Wear masks

Supervisors must structure ongoing work so that following these directives is possible.

If you see a site where this is not happening, we recommend reporting that site.  Here's what you need to do:

  1. Determine the correct address of the construction site.  If the problem is with a food truck please note the business address of the caterer as well.  If there is a food truck with workers from multiple sites crowding around, please report all that you have the time and energy to report.

  2. Fill out the Mayor's form for the violating business.  If it's a food truck issue, please fill out once for the caterer and once for the job site.

  3. Also create a 311 service request for the site violations (not food trucks).  This will alert LA Department of Building Safety (LADBS).  You can phone 311 or use the web or app interfaces where you can report the problem as an "other" service request.

  4. Let DSPNA know about any reports you make.  The DSPNA enforcement team will also address the issue with supervisors on-site.

We encourage you to report, but if for some reason you will not do so, please let us know what you are seeing.

More reporting leads to greater visibility and enforcement so please take the time to report!
