Grocery Shopping Help for Seniors & Those With Disabilities

Many seniors and those with disabilities have been at a disadvantage going to grocery stores since the panic buying began several weeks ago. Paper goods, cleaning supplies, canned goods, etc. are either nowhere to be found or in very minimal supply, shopping carts are unavailable, and check-out lines are exceedingly long.

As a result, some of our local grocery chains have stepped up to the plate to address this issue by reserving an early time slot for seniors and other groups. The following are several of the current participants. Please bring your ID that shows your age as it may be checked; also, you can call your local store to confirm that they are participating:

  • Gelson’s from 7:00 am to 8:00 am for 65+ years old

  • Whole Foods from 7:00 am to 8:00 am for 60+ years old

  • Pavilions from 7:00 am to 8:00 am for 65+ years old

  • Unfortunately, Trader Joe’s has declined to offer this convenience to their customers

Please note that several local neighbors on the [email protected] have graciously offered to go shopping for those who are unable to go on their own.
